One of our other websites – about relocating to Clayton, NC - got a web visitor today after they did a Google search for this phrase:
what will the unemployed in north carolina who have exhausted all there unemployment benefits do for christmas 2009?
I know people search for some strange, and often deep, questions in Google, but this one struck close to home and really got me thinking for that answer I wish Google had. We thought ZuluJobs.com would be the best place to post our answer to the question.
My answer to the question:
Celebrate Christmas. Celebrate by showing your family love, and by showing yourself love. Laugh with those you love.
Hold your head up high and show the world that you have not given up on life, on your family…or on yourself.
Don’t just celebrate the holidays – celebrate togetherness. Celebrate love. Celebrate each other.
Give meaning to every day. Give it 100% – even through the holidays, no matter how tough it is.
Nothing about job-seeking, no advice about resumes, no tips and tricks to get a callback. Just advice from the heart. Because when it’s all boiled down, we’re just people.
My answer probably makes zero difference to the person asking the question. I wish I had a more meaningful and personal answer for each person who asks a similar question this season. I know what it’s like to be unemployed over the holidays. I know what it’s like to quit, be laid-off, fired, phased out and just about any other term you can think of.
I also know what it’s like to be surrounded by people who love you through it all.
Don’t just give thanks over the holidays – give love.
